Published by Alex Makin on Wednesday 10th of May, 2006

Work is progressing on the Ringwood Skate Park, with the first turning of the sod held today. The Ringwood Skate Park to be built along Seymour Street near the Ringwood Market will provide skating and BMX entertainment and will a welcomed addition to the heart of Ringwood.

With the Skate Park being located close to public transport and local shops the youth of Maroondah will finally have an accessible and centrally located area for entertainment. Construction of the Ringwood Skate Park is expected to be complete by the end of July.

UPDATE: The Ringwood Skate Park was officially opened on the 2nd of September 2006

this we hopefully lower the crime rate in this area.

Andrew,

Thank you for your comments. The Ringwood Skatepark has increased the amount of activity and as well as the number of people within the centre of Ringwood and this has provided substantial benefits to the local area.

The skatepark has improved the general amenity of the local area and the police as well as nearby traders have commented that there has been a reduction of crime within this area.

Thanks,

Alex

Thank you for your comments in regard to the Ringwood Skatepark.

The skatepark is supposed to be a shared facility between skaters and bmxers. Please let me know if this isn’t working out so we can work on a way to help both skaters and bmxers.

Thanks,

Alex

heyy do u no were 5 mins away from the staition? because i live in belgrave and i get bored at upwey skate park

Hi Ryhs,

The skatepark is located along Seymour Street. The best way to get there (from Ringwood Station) is to cross Maroondah Highway.

Walk left to Ringwood Street and walk along Ringwood Street until you see Seymour Street (where the Westpac Bank is).

Cross the road and walk along Seymour Street and past the market you will see the skatepark.

It’s page 49 G8 in the Melway.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any troubles finding it.

Thanks,

Alex

How is the winter there?

Comment by Alex Makin on Sunday 26th of August, 2007

Hello Kashirin,

The winter has been quite cold recently, although we’re still not receiving enough rain. Winter is almost over here so while warmer days are just around the corner there doesn’t appear to be much hope for the rain we need.

Thanks,

Alex

hey i am being told that ringwwod skatey is get knocked down or closed beacause eastland is getting built over it is this true

Comment by Alex Makin on Monday 28th of December, 2009

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your comments. Ringwood Skate Park is not going to be closed due to Eastland or the redevelopment of the Ringwood Market site. The plans for the Ringwood Market site include the car park, the former Market and some of the buildings on Ringwood Street and do not include Staley Gardens or the Ringwood Skate Park.

Please contact me on 0408 311 645 or email alex.makin@maroondah.vic.gov.au if you have any further questions about these plans.

Thanks,

Alex

Hello, thank you for visiting my website and welcome to Maroondah. Ringwood Skatepark is located in Staley Gardens in Seymour Street, Ringwood which is off Ringwood Street and between Ringwood Square and Eastland.

I’ve included a link via Google Maps to assist.

The Skatepark is a five minute walk from Ringwood Station or from Eastland. Please let me know if you need any further directions, I can be contacted on 0408 311 645 or email alex@alexmakin.com.au.
