Maroondah Journal: House hiccup

North Ringwood Community House has launched its relocation project to find a new location for the house so that it can continue to meet the needs of the Ringwood North community.

The community house, located at the rear of the Holy Spirit Primary School at 120 Oban Road Ringwood North, is not situated on council land and is therefore ineligible for capital works funding and unable to expand. North Ringwood Community House is the only community house in Maroondah that is not located on council land.

The Maroondah Journal reported on the house and its campaign to find a new location within Ringwood North.

Cr Alex Makin said residents in North Ringwood desrved the same standard of facilities as those that existed in other suburbs of Maroondah.

Ringwood North deserves an accessible community house that provides opportunities for personal growth, skills development and social interaction. North Ringwood Community House, as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) provides a number of accredited courses in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere.

“This is a major project but the sooner we start, the sooner we will see a new community heart for Ringwood North.”

The relocation of North Ringwood Community House is a priority of mine and I have been appointed onto the North Ringwood Community House relocation sub-committee. The committee will be investigating potential funding sources for site analysis to determine a suitable location.

We are also asking the community to demonstrate their support so that we prove that there is public support for the relocation of North Ringwood Community House. Please register your interest at www.nrchi.com or contact the North Ringwood Community House on 9876 3421.
