Staleys officially open: The launch of the Ringwood Skate Park

Published by Alex Makin on Saturday 2nd of September, 2006

Staleys (named after the nearby Staley Gardens) but commonly known as Ringwood Skate Park was officially opened this afternoon by Maroondah City Council and representatives from the State and Federal Governments.

I attended the launch and spoke to a number of residents as well as skaters who were enjoying the free sausage sizzle and DJ.

Staleys marks a new era for Ringwood by providing entertainment for our youth in an area that is safe and convenient with skate park already being hugely popular. One of the comments I widely received during my campaign was the lack of entertainment that is available for young people within Ringwood and the completion of Staleys should help redress this situation.

While the concept of a Skate Park in Ringwood did take a long time to reach fruition the final result seemed to be definitely worth the wait.
