EVRC International Volunteer Day Luncheon

Published by Alex Makin on Thursday 7th of December, 2006

As part of the International Day for Volunteers, the Eastern Volunteers Resource Centre (EVRC) to celebrated the occasion and recognised its own volunteers with a volunteer day luncheon held at Federation Estate.

The EVRC recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and its continued success is only possible through its ongoing volunteer base. It was therefore fitting that the guest speaker, from Australian Volunteers International, spoke passionately about the experience of volunteering as a lecturer on occupational health and safety for two years at a University in China.

Assignments with Australian Volunteers International range from three months to three years and range from local through to overseas destinations and provides the ability to not only learn new skills but also to receive the satisfaction of working for local communities. Likewise there are ample opportunities for volunteers in the local community and the EVRC as a referral agency is well positioned to match volunteers with their interests.

2007 will mark a year of new experiences with the EVRC relocating from Federation Estate to 36 New Street. The new premises will provide EVRC with additional room to cater for new volunteers and agencies.
