Welcome to the website of Cr. Alex Makin

Thank you for visiting my web site.

It was a great honour and privilege to have been elected as the Councillor for Loughnan’s Hill Ward in the City of Maroondah. It is due to your support that we have been able to create a better municipality for the residents and ratepayers of Ringwood, Ringwood North and the broader Maroondah community.

I now seek your support as a candidate for the newly created ward of Mullum in the upcoming council elections in November this year.

Together we can further create a community that is sustainable and accessible and a council that is accountable to the community.

Together we can continue making a difference.

About Mullum Ward - what happened to Loughnan’s Hill?

Maroondah’s ward boundaries and electoral structure was reviewed earlier this year by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC). The VEC, as an independent body, found that Maroondah’s structure did not adequately reflect the needs of the community and recommended a new structure, comprising of three wards which elect three councillors each, to ensure a higher standard of representation.

This a welcome change and one which I supported through public hearings and panel submissions. As a result the wards of Loughnan’s Hill and Mullum have been merged into a new Mullum Ward, which also includes parts of the former Yarrunga and Clocktower wards. This means that the residents of Ringwood, Ringwood East and Ringwood North will have consistent representation on Maroondah City Council.

There will now be three councillors elected in each of the wards. To ensure that we continue making a difference vote 1 for Alex Makin and make sure you number each candidate. Voting is compulsory for all residents between the ages of 18 and 70.
