Rotary Club of Ringwood – presentation on ROMAC

The Rotary Club of Ringwood, is part of Rotary International and one of the many clubs that forms Rotary’s presence in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

While each Rotary club is largely autonomous, they do operate cooperatively at a district and national level to assist many worthwhile programs. ROMAC, Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children, is one such program and is unique for being a project that is operated solely through Rotary in the south west Pacific.

ROMAC, which is now in its 20th year, is a humanitarian program that provides critically ill children in developing countries with urgent medical treatment. While Interplast involves surgeons travelling abroad to perform life changing operations, ROMAC assists children who are too ill or unable to be treated in their home country. ROMAC assists these children by flying them to Australia or New Zealand to perform these life saving operations on a gratis basis.

Over its 20 year history ROMAC has provided over 300 children from 20 developing countries with urgent medical treatment that has given them new hope. For more information on ROMAC please visit www.romac.org.au.
