Common Equity Housing Limited (CEHL) is a registered housing
association that aims to assist lower income earners with access to the rental property market.
This evening I attended a community information session hosted by CEHL, who will be managing the 80 unit affordable housing development in Larissa Avenue, Ringwood.
The session explained the cooperative model, whereby tenants are expected to adhere to the rules established by the cooperative. In addition, CEHL discuss the application process, whereby there is a preference for local residents or people that have a connection to the Maroondah community.
While Council and the community was understandably concerned by the State Government overriding Council as a planning authority, it is encouraging to see CEHL being proactive in discussing the development with residents and the community.
