Unfolding Futures: The Rupert Bunny Anniversary

Rupert Bunny (1864 – 1947) was one of Australia’s first internationally renowned artists and was born and raised in St Kilda. This evening, I was invited to launch the opening of Upfolding Futures at the Carlisle Arts Space.

Unfolding Futures features artworks from the recipients of the Rupert Bunny Fellowship, supporting mid-career artists across a range of mediums and styles.

The Rupert Bunny Foundation was established in 1995, following a successful insurance claim when The Forerunners was damaged in a fire at St Kilda Town Hall. The insurance settlement helps reconstruct The Forerunners and commissioned six public art commissions.

The Foundation then established the Rupert Bunny Fellowship in 2005 and now supported 12 contemporary visual artists in creating a contribution to visual arts in the City of Port Phillip.

Unfolding Futures refers to the ongoing commitment that City of Port Phillip provides in supporting artists through the Fellowship, and through the artists own unfolding futures.

Unfolding Futures is on exhibition until 31 October visit Carlisle Street Arts Space – City of Port Phillip for details.
