Starting this month I have a regular column in Southbank Local News, which covers Southbank and Fishermans Bend.
This months I reflected on the year that was and where we are going into the future:
As Mayor I will help amplify the voices of our community, which are calling for a commitment towards these tram lines.
Over the past 12 months I sought to strengthen Council’s governance forward planning. The return of deputations, providing substantive community input into Council, is one example of this.
Council’s Community Infrastructure Plan will provide a comprehensive projection of the required community facilities needed to accommodate our future population in Fishermans Bend.
In the immediate term we will be delivering an off-leash dog park in Fennell Reserve, servicing the growing population and number of dogs within the Montague Precinct.
As Mayor I returned the Mayoral car, so I will continue using the same public transport services that our community use, ensuring I have the credibility to advocate to the state government for our public transport needs.
Public transport improvements are urgently required for Port Melbourne and Fishermans Bend and I will continue to advocate for these improvements to the State Government. Port Melbourne has some of the worst level of bus services within inner Melbourne.
