Tonight I opened Summer at the Glade at the Gasworks Art Park, marking the first of their seasonal event programs.
Located on the former South Melbourne Gas Plant site, Gasworks combines four hectares of parkland with two galleries, two theatres, artist studios, workshops, function spaces, and a café.
Gasworks is more than a venue – it’s a vital precinct where people come together for connection, belonging, and to experience the transformative power of art, nature, and culture.
Each year, more than 100,000 people experience creativity here through hundreds of performances, exhibitions, classes, markets, and programs for families and schools.
The season launch is accompanied by recent upgrades to Gasworks Art Park including upgraded picnic facilities, an enriched landscape, renewed footpaths including improved lighting and five new sculptures.
