Tonight’s Council Meeting includes a response to Council’s deputation on community safety, as well as a Notice of Motion seeking community feedback on dog off-leash parks at Clarke Reserve in Elwood and Kirrip Park in South Melbourne.
Deputation Response
At the 3rd of December council meeting last year, Council heard its first deputation under our new Governance Rules. Residents discussed the need for improved safety and lighting for Dow and Church Streets in South Melbourne.
Tonight’s report identified options to improve lighting which will be considered within the Council budget process. Thank you to the community members who participated in this deputation and for raising these issues.
Notice of Motion – Dog off Leash Areas
This Notice of Motion requires Council to commence community engagement regarding the future use of part of Clarke Reserve in Elwood and Kirrip Park in South Melbourne as off-leash dog parks
Consultation is scheduled to commence in April to seek community feedback.
The inclusion of Kirrip Park follows community concerns seeking additional off-leash dog space in Fishermans Bend and South Melbourne.
