This evening I joined Cr Justin Halliday in attending a public meeting of the Port Phillip Bicycling Users Group which featured a speaker from the Bicycle Network discussing the sustainable transport improvements required to provide genuine transport choice across the City of Port Phillip.
Fishermans Bend, as an example, is on the precipice of two possible futures, one where an investment in sustainable transport provides frequent and accessible transport to connect people with jobs and community, or another where excess traffic congestion will rapidly diminish quality of life.
Public transport and cycling improvements are needed to ensure Fishermans Bend achieves its vision of a liveable urban community of 80,000 residents. The Port Philip Bicycle Uses Group is one of the many organisations in Port Phillip working to support this vision.
