Weaving Stories is a three-part workshop series incorporating yarning and weaving led by First Peoples to promote intercultural engagement.
I was invited to this afternoon’s workshop where I participated in the discussion exploring connection within Fishermans Bend. The precinct that is today known as Fishermans Bend was named after a bend in the original course of the Yarra River. The course of the Yarra River was diverted between 1880-1892 establishing the location we know as Fishermans Bend.
Community and connectivity within Fishermans Bend is dependent on much promised and not yet delivered public transport connections, as well as embedding arts and culture.
Advocacy for public transport remains an ongoing priority of mine as the success of Fishermans Bend in dependent on State Government commitments for previously promised tram extensions.
Encouraging arts and culture is also essential and I am pleased to support our expanding creativity within Fishermans Bend.
